Stains & Accent Stones

Stone Showing the Difference Between Exterior and Interior

The term "stain", as it applies to sandstone, refers to the natural color variation of the exterior layer of the stone.  This outer shell, affected by thousands of years of weather and environmental influences, can differ radically in appearance from the stone's interior as evidenced at left.  We often cut stone with some of the original stain intact for clients who desire a bit of contrast in their project.  Photos on this page indicate the range of natural stain and moss-rock effects available in our stone.
